'I have wanted to give up plenty of times, especially in the beginning'

Demi Williams, 32, from Garston, said she struggled during the early days of her business and almost considered closing her shop. But with the help of her family, she is now the proud owner of Demzil's Florist in Garston Village, voted the best florist in Liverpool.

Before opening her shop, Demi completed her level two in floristry but found it hard to get a job as a florist as most people work on their own. However, in 2009, with the support of her family and the money saved from working with her mum, Demi managed to open her very own shop. She said: "I have wanted to give up plenty of times, especially in the beginning, and in the meantime, I've had two girls. So it's always been tough working. But my mum and my family have really pulled together to get me to where I am today.”

Demi said the award was a total surprise and the first award she'd won for the shop. She said: “I didn't think I was going to win at all. I was such a shock when they announced my name. It's the first award I've won for the shop.
