The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission sued a Sheffield Village trucking company, accusing the company of violating an employee's religious rights.

A lawsuit filed by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission accuses a Sheffield Village trucking company of religious discrimination.CLEVELAND, Ohio— A federal agency on Tuesday sued a Sheffield Village trucking company over accusations that the company discriminated against an employee because of his religion.

After Lynch told company managers he couldn’t work on Saturdays because his faith requires him to be off for the Sabbath, managers told him: “F--k your religion” and fired him, according to the lawsuit. The lawsuit accuses Wheeler of violating Lynch’s civil rights. The EEOC seeks a permanent injunction barring Wheeler from discrimination, a move to ensure the company has policies banning racial and religious discrimination. It also seeks backpay and pay for other damages to Lynch.

They also mocked his religious beliefs and criticized his interpretation of the Bible and tenants of his religion, including his diet and observance of the Sabbath, the filing said.
