Global air travel is expected to double by 2050, posing a challenge to the aviation sector, which has committed to flying with net zero emissions by the same year.
A recent report released by the CSIRO has found that using sustainable aviation fuel could present a $19 billion opportunity to Australia by 2050. Hiringa Energy Chair Cathy Clennett says there is a “huge opportunity” for green hydrogen in the aviation sector. “We’ve formed a consortium in New Zealand to help develop that sector and that opportunity,” Ms Clennett said.
