Prospective buyers are being told the supplier and installer is making about $50 million in annual revenues and is profitable.

Smart Energy, a Byron Bay-founded supplier and installer of residential rooftop solar and battery systems, is on the market as it searches for a backer to expand a business that is growing rapidly.

At its core, Smart Energy supplies and installs residential solar panels and battery systems – along with electric vehicle chargers and virtual power plants – with no upfront cost. It gives customers the option of paying for installation through the savings they make from moving to solar panels. Earlier this year, Smart Energy’s three owners outlined their strategy for growing the business. They want to double their footprint within the next two years, with stores rolled out under a dealership model where locals can own the business but operate with the brand and support from head office.
