Over 100 jobs are to be lost in Cork after US pharmaceutical company ILC Dover confirmed it is to relocate its operations to Poland and Mexico.

110 employees at the company's Blarney Business Park site have been impacted by the decision, with a spokesperson for the company saying they are now entering a 30-day consultation period with them.

In a statement the company said that the decision was taken due to unexpected economic conditions the industry has faced. The bio-pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturer will be relocating operations to its sites in Juarez in Mexico and Gliwice in Poland. It is expected that the Blarney site will close in the early months of 2024

ILC Dover, who make single-use powder handling solutions for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical industries, had announced the creation of 70 new jobs at its Cork plant back in November 2018.
