A man riding his motorbike from Gympie to Bundaberg has been found dead at Bauple, a rural Queensland town along the highway route. The motorcyclist set off at 10.30pm on Wednesday, but his family raised the alarm when he didn’t arrive hours later. A helicopter search located the man’s body near the Bruce Highway in the Tiaro area on Thursday afternoon.
“A searching helicopter located the man and his motorbike down an embankment off the Bruce Highway at Bauple,” Queensland Police said. “Ground crews attended the scene and the man was found to be deceased.” It appears the man had just a quarter of his journey behind him when his Black BMW motorcycle was involved in an incident, and investigators are appealing to anyone who may have seen him travelling north along the highway.
