Hannah Thomas was busy planning her dream wedding and had just celebrated her 30th birthday when her life was turned upside down. The Sydney local was excited to start a new family with her now husband Simon and decided to undergo a fertility test. But just two days later, Hannah was being admitted for chemotherapy at St Vincent’s Hospital, where she would spend the next two months. When she took the fertility test, in March 2022, Hannah discovered her lymph nodes were swollen.
“And it made me feel amazing to feel in control and still have that piece of me.” Loved ones travelled from far and wide for the head shave, with many joining in and shaving their own heads. “That really gave me the courage to be able to do it myself,” Hannah said. “And it gave our friends a chance to be there with us and do something for us in a situation when no one knew what to do.
