On Saturday, Hamas, a militant group that controls the Palestinian Gaza Strip territory within Israel, mounted the deadliest attack on Israel in decades, killing over 1,000 people, including many civilians, and taking an estimated 150 hostages, including soldiers, men, women, children and older adults.
