Two family members are in the background. Oct. 11, 2023SUNBURY-The former police chief of Sunbury has been accused of stealing nearly $7,000 of video gaming money from the social hall office of a volunteer fire company of which he was an officer.

Hare was caught on video on Aug. 14, 22, and 24 using the keypad to enter the office and stealing a total of $500, it states. “Our organizational structure relies on trusted volunteers to manage our finances. Unfortunately, this trust was likely violated. Mayor Josh A. Brosious declined comment on Hare’s arrest explaining the charges do not involve the city.
