Jarome Luai held talks with coach Ivan Cleary and rugby league chief executive Matt Cameron on Friday. The ball is now in his court.

The Panthers have given star five-eighth Jarome Luai their blessing to test the open market from November 1.

The club reiterated their position and spending capacity on Friday, leaving it to Luai to decide whether he is comfortable re-signing with the club or would prefer to test his value on the open market. No formal offer was put on the table. “The club and Jarome have met,” Cameron said. “Jarome is aware of the club’s capacity moving forward. The club’s main concern and priority is his health and recovery with him set to have surgery on Monday. Jarome is contracted until the end of the 2024 season, so we feel like there is no rush at this point in time.
