U.S. stocks opened higher on Friday, as Wall Street banks kicked off earnings results for the third quarter. The Dow Jones Industrial Average DJIA, +0.58% was up 0.5% soon after the opening bell, while the S&P 500 SPX, +0.33% gained 0.5% and the Nasdaq Composite COMP, -0.06% rose 0.

C, +2.38% on Friday reported third-quarter profit that topped expectations, while JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s JPM, +3.77% results and Wells Fargo & Co.’s WFC, +3.35% earnings also beat analysts’ estimates. All three major stock benchmarks were on track for weekly gains.
