Manchester United and Liverpool have both been seeking external investment within the last year

Qatari businessman Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani has withdrawn from the process to buy Manchester United, it has this evening emerged.

It was made public in November of last year the Glazers were considering ending their long-standing association with the Red Devils, though are holding firm over their valuation of the club they acquired for £790million in 2005.READ MORE: Liverpool to enter unknown territory as Jurgen Klopp braced for extended injury blow

There was talk at the time of FSG potentially walking away from Liverpool, with some suggesting Qataris could launch a formal bid for the Reds. This never came to fruition, with FSG instead recently striking a deal with Dynasty Equity to end their search for investment.
