A 53-year-old man was shot in his right knee as he sat on his parked motorcycle in the Mount Hope neighborhood late Friday, San Diego police said. The victim was parked on the northwest corner of Market and Denby streets when he was shot about 11:25 p.m., Officer David O'Brien said. The shooting happened as a pick-up truck with six people in the bed drove past, headed south on Denby.
Witnesses heard at least three gunshots, but were not sure where the shots had come from, the officer said. Authorities had no descriptions of potential suspects. Paramedics took the victim to a hospital to be treated for an injury not considered to be life-threatening, O'Brien said. Anyone with information about the shooting was asked to call detectives in the department's Southeast Division at 527-3500. Anonymous tips can be left by calling Crime Stoppers at 580-8477.
