Abia State Government has described as false, the claims making the rounds that it directed Northerners, who live and conduct their businesses at the Lokpanta Cattle Market, around the Enugu-Umuahia-Aba-Port Harcourt Expressway by Umunneochi, to leave the State.

The State government, in a statement made available to journalists, said there was no iota of truth in the fake news. According to the statement, 'those Northerners are the second and third generations of Igbos' living in Lokpanta.

The retired Naval Commander said that ransom for kidnap victims around the Uturu-Umunneochi axis were allegedly paid in the market, a situation which according to him, prompted the State government to, among other measures, carry out deliberate actions including demolition of brothels and shanties in the market.
