The Albanese government has just announced it will give its competition watchdog — the ACCC — additional powers and funding to monitor the domestic airline industry. It was one of the recommendations from a recent Senate inquiry into the controversial decision to block extra Qatar Airways flights into Australia. Although the move has been welcomed by the ACCC, the watchdog is calling for further aviation reform. Peter McCutcheon reports.
