John M. O'Connor Elementary students from across the Wiregrass recently had the opportunity to learn all about healthcare courtesy of a health sciences simulation clinic hosted by Wallace Community College.
Hundreds of first-graders from Dothan City Schools, Dale County Schools, and Houston County Schools descended on Wallace's Dothan campus on Tuesday to take part in the clinic. People are also reading… Volunteers dressed in superhero costumes for the occasion and colorful decorations filled the hallways and classrooms of the Heersink Family Health Science Building. WCCD health science students worked together to create the skits and theme for the event.Godwin said the idea for the clinic stemmed from multiple organizations looking for ways to reach out to local children.
Aside from giving children the opportunity to learn about different areas of health, WCCD students also reap some of the event's benefits. Jordyn Mosley, an ADN student, believes participating in the clinic was a rewarding experience.
