A young man is fighting for life after a ute crashed into a stationary truck at a roadworks site in Melbourne’s northwest. The 27-year-old was driving a Toyota Hilux ute through roadworks on Lancefield Rd in Sunbury about 12.30pm on Thursday. The ute crashed into the back of a truck, which was stopped on the road.
The truck then rolled and hit a third vehicle. The ute driver, from Essendon, sustained life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital. No one else was injured and police are still investigating how the crash happened. Police are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash or who may have footage of the Toyota Hilux driving on Lancefield Rd before the incident.
