No explanation for ‘loud bang’ heard in Doreen, in Melbourne’s north, on Wednesday night

Space experts are continuing to scramble for answers to a mystery light and bang heard by residents in Melbourne’s north. A flash of orange light was seen, followed by a loud blast, just before 9pm on Wednesday, according to footage posted to social media.

Melbourne residents startled by mystery explosion. The light and blast were in the background of the footage showing a Doreen resident getting something out of his car. He then walks to the street to try to find the cause of the sound. “When you hear those big thunderstorms and those big cracks ... this was 10 times that,” Doreen resident Sean Scanlon told 7NEWS. “This shook the ground and it got every neighbour out of their home.
