President Joe Biden addressed the nation on Thursday night in a rare address from the Oval Office, touching on the war in Israel after returning from a wartime visit to Tel Aviv. The president also spoke about the conflict in Ukraine against Russia, appearing to try and link the two conflicts in the framework of urging nations to have restraint and aim for peace.
President Biden's address came a day after a brief visit to the Middle East where he met with Israeli President Benjamin Netanyahu. At that meeting, President Biden vowed to aid Israel in its battle with Hamas. Israel and Hamas have also pointed fingers at each other over a deadly hospital bombing in Gaza City on Tuesday.
