The decision to ground all Boeing 737 Max planes could cost the company billions of dollars.

The company said Wednesday it recommended the FAA issue a temporary operations suspension of all 737 Max planes. Boeing had for days resisted a suspension, even as aviation authorities around the world grounded their 737 Max aircraft following the second deadly crash of a 737 Max 8 plane in less than five months. The cost of grounding all 737 Max planes could be between $1 billion and $5 billion, according to estimates from Wall Street firms Melius Research and Jefferies.

Boeing CEO Dennis Muilenburg said in a statement Wednesday that the company took the"proactive step" to ground the 737 Max planes"out of an abundance of caution." "Safety is a core value at Boeing for as long as we have been building airplanes; and it always will be," Muilenburg said."There is no greater priority for our company and our industry.

But grounding them is for the best

It serves them right

Better than keeping the lives of people on a perpetual risk through each flight of a 737 Max too many deaths already!

Better it costing them money than people their lives.

It will of course cost Boeing billions but lives will be preserved. That is more important.

So let them be allowed to continue dropping from the skies so that a fucking billion company can continue making profits.

Saving lives!

Profit over lives?

So Sad!!!!

BUT SAVE HUNDREDS OF LIVES

Money over Lives.

And save lives?

Trump grounded them.

I'd rather Boeing be grounded than hear about another unnecessary death that could have been avoided.

Is it the billions or the lives that matter?

So be it! There is always a consequence for failure!!!

We all know Boeing's hesitancy involved money. When two major crashes occur so close together involving the same type of plane, there is a problem. Right decision but dragging their feet is not reassuring.

They should have thought of this when they decided to cheapen up on the design! They didn't have the MCAS software right and instead rushed to production. Now Boeing will pay for that and it is deserved!

Then why didn’t Boeing focus on fixing this problem when they first became aware of it MONTHS ago

I think the best thing to do now is to put realDonaldTrump on a BOEING737MAX8 flown by a pilot with only 8 hours flight experience. And during take off, let's have auto-pilot take over the control with AoA activated. That way the world could have a chance to breathe easier.

Too effin bad

2 of my grandkids are flying back from their March break, it is comforting to know that they will not fly in a 737 MAX 8.

IlliyAli Lives are more important than money, end of.

That flight has cost my country a national treasure! I could care less of Boeing losing billions of dollars if it means saving more lives.

This far cheaper than a single life lost. Ground all!

Well, they should have considered that earlier 🙄 A proper investigation and actions following the first crash would have prevented much of this loss.

callous headline

It is CNN’s job to “go there and tell the difficult stories” but they won’t so I will. BOMBSHELL: Lisa Page ADMITS Obama’s DOJ ordered FBI to NOT charge Hillary Clinton in e-mail scandal...

That’s why they kept flying them, its all about the money

Fix the automatic sensors and train the pilots to use correct controls that differ from other aircrafts. Particularly where sensors cannot be overidden easily causing the nosedive, and unnecessary fatalities ... imagine too, if there were animals in the cargo hold. Tragic

So they worried about the billions of dollars. So what about people lives

should we care about what it cost them if they have a faulty product that endangers potentially tens of thousands of lives How about the headline, 'Boeing could endanger countless lives by airlines refusal to ground all 737 Max planes?'

It already has...

That's chump change for Boeing!

Making sure the grounding of the planes was necessary was a sound decision.

Should cost them a lot more. Their rush to market, promising a 14%+ fuel savings cut corners on engineering & development costs estimated as approaching $30B. They made a conscious decision to ignore safety for maximum market share. Drill deep investigators, drill deep!!!

Who cares about money!!!! THOUSANDS OF LIVES SAVED!!!! Thank god!

It took 13.8 Billion Years to create each of our unique lives, worth more than any money surely?

we don't care how much it costs them.

Ground a fleet or continue to pay out huge settlements to customers you kill

So long as we are safe

But a life is worth trillions of dollars.

It’s their fault. Next time they should care more about people’s lives.

So. They should have thought about that before building unsafe planes.

Good!! They’re not safe and Boeing should’ve grounded them the day of the Ethiopian Air crash!!

Good... let them lose the money, and save the life of a family member or a friend

oh no, might their value crash

Human lives Boeing

It could also cause airlines to change future MAX series orders to a320neo orders

Too bad ..fix the software 🙄😈😈😈🤷🏽‍♀️

Lives are irreplaceable , you can always make money. Common sense at last. Thank God

Instead of grounding please give me one for personal use i beg

Which is why they claimed there was no need to ground them. Disgusting what people are willing to do (or not do) for billions of dollars.

They have the cash flow. Do what makes sense? Or do what you can to avoid spending money?

But they save much money with the development.

They just pass the cost on to everyone who flys!

CNN more concerned with the capitalists making billions of dollars, not the falling out of the sky of their product filled with innocent people. Guess we know where CNN gets their bread buttered.

People before profits. Boeing probably knew about this glitch before crash 1 happened.

It is nothing compared to the lost lives because of it....

Maybe Boeing737Max should take some of that money for proper training

Good.

Good! The safety of my daughter and granddaughter are more important!!!

Vs another unexplained death. Just 1 is too many. Now we can get answers. The question is are they hacked?

Too Complicated! If you're name isn't Einstein it can't be flown! Per Captain Orange Man.

Grounding 737 Max planes is a good decision, we don't want have a third disaster to realize they are malfunction.

As long as it saves lives worldwide. Money can be replaced not lost loved ones LionAir and EthiopianAirlines

Billions vs lives

Over Three Hundred lives already Lost, what do they cost?
