A meeting was set up later with the village engineer concerning a sign reportedly obstructing traffic in the same area as the hole in the roadway.

A caller reported a hole several inches deep and with no metal plate placed over it by crews who had been working between Jackson and Miles roads at 8:20 a.m. Oct. 13. Within 15 minutes, the paving company was on the scene doing traffic control while working on the hole.Police advised the paving company about a sign obstructing the roadway in the same area as an earlier complaint about a possible pothole, the later call coming around 2 p.m. Oct.

Then at 5:21 p.m., a man came to the station to make a follow-up report about a reckless driver from an incident that apparently took place last year.Police stopped a Hyundai Sonata around 11 a.m. Oct. 11, citing the driver for not wearing a seat belt and a passenger for possession of marijuana.After removing a traffic speed box placed near Sterncrest Drive on the night of Oct. 9, police deployed the speed box further east on Jackson near the intersection with Chagrin River Road around 7:45 p.m.
