Live Art Dance is pleased to present the launch of a new dance company: Zimmerdans. The new company was founded in Halifax in 2023 by Nova Scotia native and local dance artist, Lydia Zimmer.The Devil’s IntervalsArtistic director of Live Art Dance, Liliona Quarmyne describes Zimmer’s style as, “very precise, often magical, and a little bit eerie,” she says. “Zimmer’s artistic voice is unique with the ability to blend darkness and beauty in a very exciting way.
Quarmyne believes that the thriving dance landscape, composed of Zimmerdans and other local companies, can really show the country what is possible from dance that comes out of the Atlantic region.
