A spokesperson for Auckland Airport told Business Insider Australia that a passenger made the threat at the domestic terminal.

A passenger has made a bomb threat at New Zealand's Auckland Airport, just three days after the Christchurch mass shooting which left 50 people dead.

"The matter is now being handled by the New Zealand Police," said the spokesperson."Airport operations have not been disrupted." New Zealand is on high alert after a gunman opened fire at Muslim worshippers at the Al Noor and Linwood mosques in Christchurch on Friday. At least 50 people were killed, and dozens more remain in hospital.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern raised the national security threat level from low to high after the shooting which is being treated as a terror attack.
