When San Francisco hosts more than 20,000 visitors and 80 global leaders from Asia, the Pacific, North America and South America this month, chef Marc Zimmerman will be ready to feed the masses.
Now, Zimmerman hopes events like the global summit and San Francisco Restaurant Week, which begins Friday and has been extended to include a portion of APEC, will draw locals and tourists alike to the South of Market neighborhood. Zimmerman said he was attracted to the space, which is located at 545 Mission St., in part because of his first meal at Salt House. The interior's brick and timber combined with the building's history and age were architectural styles that Zimmerman hadn't seen when he helped run restaurants for seven years in Las Vegas.

The restaurant has also seen fewer company dinners, particularly from biotech firms who now have more employees working at home.
Restaurants close to the summit, particularly those in APEC's security zone, may also suffer from a lack of business because there will be streets closed and security checkpoints put in place by the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Secret Service.
