VANCOUVER — Shares of Vancouver-based mining company First Quantum bounced back almost nine per cent in midday trading Friday after falling by nearly half this week.
In response, shares of the Vancouver-based company had rebounded by $1.38 to $17.10 on the Toronto Stock Exchange by early afternoon — after plunging from an Oct. 27 close of $27.96. -Barrick Gold Corp beat analysts' expectations for third-quarter profit on Thursday, as the Canadian gold miner benefited from increased production and higher bullion prices. The Toronto-based company also said it was on track to meet targets at its copper projects like Reko Diq in Pakistan and Lumwana in Zambia. Barrick, which owns a 50% stake in the Reko Diq mine, reiterated that their stake wasn't up for sale.
