Optus has been slammed after it disabled comments and failed to provide regular updates to its customers impacted by the telecommunication company's mass outage.

Optus is under fire after it switched off comments on its social media and failed to provide regular updates to its millions of customers impacted by a nationwide outage.

“We encourage any customers who need to contact emergency services to use a mobile line to call 000. Optus can confirm that Triple zero calls will not work from an Optus landline . Mobile calls to 000 will work if another carrier is available.” Customers were quick to not accept the apology and instead hit back at the provider after it restricted comments under its X, formerly known as Twitter, account.

"You would think that there would be better communication after how bad it was after the data breach but obviously Optus have learnt diddly squat about looking after their customers," another disgruntled person added.
