This $2 billion financial advisor is his firm's head coach:

When former linebacker Hank McLarty, 49, set out to build his own wealth management firm after nearly 15 years under the umbrella of two of the largest firms in the country, he drew upon the leadership skills and work ethic instilled in him by Auburn football's legendary coach Pat Dye.

“My vision was to build a firm with tax experts, trust and estate experts, and financial planning experts along with our investment strategy group,” he says. McLarty envisioned unifying a group of experts together to better serve his clients’ needs. His advice for leaders? “I think the number one thing is humility, and allowing people to learn and grow and staying out of their way.” McLarty is responsible for maintaining the vision of the firm at a high level, and has spearheaded mergers with two other firms since 2016. Since the most recent merger in August, Gratus Capital’s assets under management have grown to nearly $2 billion.
