A 1931 two-story home in Alamo Heights has hit the market after its current owners took it through a major restoration that removed all traces of an earlier remodel that made it look like an Italian chain restaurant, according to its listing agent.

Thanks to the restoration project, the 4,000-square-foot property now features a blend of sleek modernity with period features such as burnished hardwood floors and beadboard walls. A limestone fireplace serves as a centerpiece in a sunken living area, and an updated kitchen with stainless-steel appliances shows off a massive island and breakfast bar.

Listed for just under $2 million, the five-bedroom, five-and-a-half-bath property also includes a stone facade and a swimming pool set in its lush backyard.
