NSW Ambulance Inspector Dominic Wong says four people injured when a lightning strike hit a tree under which they were sheltering in Sydney on Monday are lucky to be alive. The group was taken to hospital on Monday after a lightning strike hit a tree in the Botanic Gardens near the Sydney Opera House at about 12.45pm.

Ambulance Dominic Wong shares update on four people taken to hospital after lightning strike in Sydney’s Botanic Gardens A man in his late teens and a woman in her 20s were taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, while a man and woman aged in their 30s were later taken to St Vincent’s Hospital. “When our paramedics arrived yesterday at the scene, the scene was still heavily impacted by the thunderstorm,” Wong told Sunrise on Tuesday.
