In the past the historic town of Southwell has been deemed the UK's most perfect market town, and it is no stranger to the Muddy Stiletto's roundup of the best places to live in Nottinghamshire. Tourists are quick to flock to this picturesque area, whether it be for the stunning cathedral or one of the town's many events such as the Southwell Music Festival or the Bramley Apple Festival.
The town has always been a well-regarded area, with fantastic schools, community values and boutique businesses. The average house price for last year was £426,901, but with it being just a stone's throw away from Newark or a short half-hour drive from Nottingham, it can be a great commuter town too.
Glenn Formoy, head of marketing and events for Southwell Minster, has shared his thoughts on the historic town, and explained it is "home to a wide array of independent shops, boutiques, cafes and pubs." He continued: "It has a true Georgian market-town vibe, especially on a Saturday when the popular town market takes place.
