Australian fast bowler Josh Hazlewood has proven his sense of self-deprecating humour by signing a small piece of sandpaper during the second Test against New Zealand in Christchurch. Hazlewood was a key member of the infamous 2018 Australian team that was caught ball-tampering with sandpaper in Cape Town against South Africa, though he has vehemently denied any knowledge and was not sanctioned.

The bowling group of Hazlewood, Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc and Nathan Lyon released a joint statement three years after the incident, denying once and for all any involvement in the scandal. But that hasn’t stopped Hazlewood from having a laugh with some Kiwi fans — now six years after the fact.
