German family that owns Krispy Kreme, Panera Bread to donate $11,000,000 after learning of Nazi past: 'There is nothing to gloss over. These crimes are disgusting'

In a four-page report, the Bild newspaper reported that documents uncovered in Germany, France and the U.S. reveal that Albert Reimann Sr. and Albert Reimann Jr. used Russian civilians and French POWs as forced laborers.

The father and son, who died in 1954 and 1984, did not talk about the Nazi era and the family had thought that all of the company's connection to the Nazis had been revealed in a 1978 report, Harf said. "We were all ashamed and turned as white as the wall," he said."There is nothing to gloss over. These crimes are disgusting."

In 2000, the German government approved a 10 billion mark fund to provide compensation, with half the money coming from companies like Bayer, Siemens, Deutsche Bank, Daimler-Benz, Volkswagen, and AEG.During World War II, the company used forced laborers in its industrial chemicals company. It was not clear how many were used overall, but Bild said in 1943, 175 forced laborers were being used, about 30 percent of its workforce.

They donate to charity only to turn around & put out a book- doesn’t sound very charitable

terannhilow I am sure they knew about their past but wanted to keep it a secret.

Every Nation Has It’s Dark Days I Think They Still Get A lot Of Stick Considering Stalin Killed More 🤭

Sins of the father...

A rich family in the time of nazi Germany gave money to nazi Germany, how so surprising.

'Learning'?

I alway knew that there was something intrinsically evil about Krispy Kreme beyond it’s crime against spelling. 🧐

Albert Reimann Sr and Albert Reimann Jr

Think of the lives lost due to their donuts!

How about giving this money to Doctors Without Borders? It is a French organization, and something to stamp out world hunger. Those prisoners were often starved to death.

Throwing money at the problem won't make it go away.

askpanera why do you pay your employees so little and work them like dogs till they quit, naxi methods?

I guess, good for them. Who are they donating this money to?

Pity they're such extremely poor people that they can't donate a more meaningful, respectful amount. 'We had no idea!'

I bet tell that to Republican representatives

panera bread?

Glad to see that principled billionaires exist. Now the family also should give raises to their employees, upon whose backs the family adds to its wealth.

Nothing to gloss over minus the decades of glossing over. Fuck that and them:

Donate to whom, what?

We stan a true Krispy King

I’m wondering if they got found out and are trying to just play nice guy, or if they really did do the digging themselves and genuinely want to better the situation.

What a horrible thing to learn

11 million to who? Is that the best he can do?

When is gummy bears coming clean

Will the lib fascists boycott a company that has Nazi origin? They can't pay off their guilt.

Maga idiots going to be eating even more Krispy Kreme’s after this report

Gloss? Really? Glaze would have been perfect. His publicist definitely dropped the ball on this one

And that is how that’s done!!! 🙏❤️👍

Guess we know what Trump is serving next at the White House for some special breakfast invite!

Charity was the easiest way out. Finding the survivors' families? Much better.

Just learning of nazi collaboration my ass, these people hve known for ever.Any company worth as much knows its history , now that it is public they come foreword with some money trying to appease there past. They are wealthy now built by the blood of many.We can never frgtthpast☠️

'after learning of Nazi past' ... I thinl they were already aware of it.

So that's like the average person donating about $5 to charity. Very generous. KrispyKreme

3 k's in logo...hmm.

Not a good week for Tullys.

Rabbi finds a new way to make money! 6 million Dunat in oven...😂

Hopefully some wealthy Israeli/company will one day feel the guilty of all the bloodshed of Palestinians and donate a hefty sum to the Palestinian.

Funny how some people are “coming clean” suddenly. Makes me think🤔.. Somebody must have been about to out them for something more so they got ahead of it with THIS. Guilt is the only emotion that will make you lighten your load by 11 mil.

Missed the perfect opportunity to say glazed over

There’s also nothing to gloss over about $11 million being a slap in the face!

I'm not going to blame today's generation for what the Nazis did. I will however, blame those who support people touting Nazi ideals today.

In comparison, if your net worth was $100,000 this would be a donation of $305.55. I'm not impressed.

Nor glaze over

VIVAPRIMADONNA want some nazi breadbowls and donuts

The politicization of Krispy Kreme-how sad

tariqnasheed

Hes one scary looking man him?!

These nazi supporters should be donating billions not millions AND this should have happened decades ago! Why did Germany ignore this? We know why - money goes a long, long way in Germany.

I can't wait to see what harleydavidson does to make up for the fact that they only exist because they supplied the Nazi's harleydavidson nazimotors UnAmerican

11 million can’t remove the blood stain left by the Nazis from history, hearts and minds.

I always hated Panera

That must have been quite an episode of Who Do You Think You Are?!

Never eating at panerabread or shitty krispykreme ever again.

olgaamanda03 its Panera one of your favorite places

“After learning of their past”, Bwahahahaha, you mean “after being confronted about their past”, there’s a big difference.

That guy is scary looking.

TuesdayThoughts Krispy Kreme I guess that's Reparations to me I think in the case of others we need to invest in their communities Have a lasting affect the way that Indian casinos did At one time the Black Panthers was a political party bringing up their own communities AP

Who knew Krispy Kreme were German owned ?

sanosbo1 Now, that’s what I call a responsible business person, unlike trump!

$11,000,000 TAX WRITE OFF AND GET MORE CUSTOMERS SUPPORT!! HELL YEAH !

Now we know where they got the K’s

They didn’t know? Really?

And that’s how you approach things properly, no one twisted their arm to do this. Can’t escape the past but at least they’re doing something about it.

NaziDonuts

And what did any of these people have to do with atrocities during WW2? Were any of these people even fucking alive then?!? Let’s find the children of the monsters that committed the Tuskegee experiments. Let’s force them to pay compensation and apologize. Only fair, right?

a dollar a life

Nope, this has nothing to do with the company owners, they had Nazi regime ruling Germany and they had to do their business, what is expected from them, to leave their business for some1 else? Aparthied Israel is committing far worse crimes than Nazis but are getting away with it

And that is why BDS is so important now BoycottIsreal

The virtue signaling is getting absurd

Only just know of his Nazi past 🤔🤔. A bit like telling me the Queen of England does not know who her relatives are

I sm sure the family has known about their past since the end of WWII. They just didnt want anyone else to know. Not shame but to keep their wealth.

Wow. Just learned of their past? Well, 11m doesn't seem much.

ALL OF IT

Just $11 mil for being a Nazi

Wheres Antifa when you need them Lol

These cremes are disgusting. I mean crimes.

Fuck That I'm still buying krispykreme 😂😂😂😂😂

Apologising for shit that happened before you were born. How pc

Should have said “glazed” over.

Imagine giving a damn. 😪 I thought the past was left in the past. I would never pay for the crimes of my parents, grandparents and great grandparents because I didn’t commit them. But people love to virtue signal 🤷🏾‍♂️

lol 'gloss over' ALWAYS thought they were missing a 'K' 🆗😱🤔✊ KrispyKreme panera

“Hey goy, we found a new link. Remember de past”
