She also noted there were"some significant challenges" ahead as she outlined what her immediate priorities would be leading the Melbourne-based retailer. "I am focused on delivering improved outcomes for our valued customers, team members and all Myer shareholders. He previously revealed he was going to be returning to the United States, when announcing his retirement.

Myer Chairman Ari Mervis, whose retirement from the board takes effect on Thursday, said Ms Wirth was an"experienced and respected leader".
