An investigation has uncovered a growing black market for illegal workers to rent accounts on delivery apps. More than 100,000 people have subscribed to Facebook groups where profiles can be rented, bought, or sold in the past three years.
This means that your food delivery may have been made by a 'substitute' rider who has rented a profile from another worker without going through the official vetting process.
