North Korean hackers have been accused of hacking into and stealing microchip designs from South Korean companies.

According to South Korea’s National Intelligence Service , North Korean hackers have stolen vital microchip information from South Korean chip makers.South Korean microchip makers have been victims of North Korean hackers. The hackers, it is alleged, were able to break into and steal some microchip plans, the South Korean spy agency National Intelligence Service has reported.

“We believe that North Korea might be preparing to produce its semiconductors in the face of difficulties in procuring them due to sanctions,” the NIS said in a statement. The spy agency warned companies in the chip-making industry to take precautions against cyber attacks. However, it did not disclose the names of the affected firms or suggest that North Korea could obtain anything of value.
