Oprah Winfrey has admitted she starved herself for months, before wheeling out a wagon of fat on her talk show in 1988, in a moment that the “internet won’t let her forget”. On Sunrise on Wednesday, viewers got a sneak peek at her upcoming ABC special on weight loss, with her lamenting that her body has become a “national sport” for the US media to report on.

Oprah Winfrey’s shock admission before viral weight loss moment. “I starved myself for nearly five months then wheeled out that wagon of fat, that the internet will never let me forget,” she said in a trailer for her special titled Shame, Blame and the Weight Loss Revolution. “For 25 years, making fun of my weight has been a national sport. Oprah, fatter. Oprah hits 246 pounds . Oprah warned — diet or die,” Winfrey said, referencing headlines on her weight.
