High Court told Cosgrave resigned from his role last year because it was in the ‘best interests of the company’

Legal Paddy Cosgrave voted down plan to sell Web Summit after Israel controversy, court hears

Cosgrave resigned from his role and from the company’s board that month over a series of posts which were heavily criticised and led to a number of big sponsors withdrawing from last year’s event. The comments were made as part of a hearing during a second round of discovery in the various High Court lawsuits the co-founders are involved in.

They want internal communications as well as communications with speakers, sponsors, and stakeholders regarding the fallout from Cosgrave’s posts. Smith said while the posts were admitted, she did not have evidence of the impact, the engagement with others, and the exact damage caused.Part of her case is that Cosgrave resigned when his position became “untenable” due to his conduct.
