The 2032 Olympics and Paralympics should put the Brisbane “on the map”, according to champion swimmer Ariarne Titmus as she fears her home city could take a “half-arse” approach to the event. Amid debate and disillusion over the event as political and sporting leaders dither over Games infrastructure, Titmus has sought to put the focus on making sure the next generation of athletes are inspired to compete in the Queensland capital.

Miles rejected calls to knock down and rebuild the Gabba into a world-leading stadium, also rejecting a recommendation by a review by former Brisbane lord mayor Graham Quirk for a new $3.4 billion stadium at inner-city location Victoria Park.
