Ottawa police and paramedics were called about a black SUV colliding with a building on George Street at 3:45 p.m. Pat Nicastro said he is unsure of how it happened but the vehicle went over the curb, over a bike rack and hit a gas meter before damaging his front windows and patio furniture. "The cashiers were very close and there were some customers at the front, so luckily no one was hurt," he said.
The man driving it was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries, according to paramedics. Another person was treated and released at the scene.People were cleared from the store and parts of the street because of a gas leak from the damaged meter, according to Ottawa police. They didn't mention any charges.
