However, there is one aspect of the popular show that locals are not too impressed with - despite mainly being filmed in Cornwall, it's set in a fictional town in south Devon. 'Somebody came in asking if this is the police station, I said yeah thinking they meant in the show but then I realised they really wanted the police.'When they did the filming they had a farmers market set up in the square and it looked brilliant.'

In an interview, producer Tim Key explained: 'We travelled around lots of different places and were on the hunt to find somewhere that felt like a real town over a seaside resort' One resident said: 'We get plenty of positive publicity for it and it probably does bring some money into the town' The show is filmed in numerous locations in Devon and Cornwall but Looe - a bustling fishing port with a thriving tourism industry and many independent businesses - was chosen as the home for the show because it felt like an authentic town.
One angry social media user penned: 'Why do you have to pretend that your new series Beyond Paradise is set in Devon when it is clearly filmed in Cornwall?'
