PUTRAJAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission has been given the green light to charge a managing director - a Tan Sri - of the company handling the procurement and management of the government’s fleet of vehicles.

A source with knowledge of the case said on Tuesday that MACC investigators have recorded statements from several key witnesses, including a former Finance Minister.The company was awarded the contract worth RM4.5bil for a period of 15 years from 2022 to 2035. MACC senior director of investigations Datuk Seri Hishamuddin Hashim confirmed that the man would be brought to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on Wednesday to face charges.

It was earlier reported that the MACC had carried out an investigation into the contract and had raided the company as well as the businessman’s residence.
