OTTAWA — Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland has ruled out raising taxes on the middle class in the upcoming federal budget — but won't say if corporations or the wealthy are in for the same treatment.
"Young Canadians need us to make those investments — investments in housing, investments in affordability, investments in productivity and growth," Freeland said."We also really believe in the importance of making those investments in a fiscally responsible way." Not even the vital business of Parliament was enough to keep MPs from slipping outside to glimpse celestial history. Dozens of elected officials, including Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre, gathered on the Hill to crane their necks skywardto look at the solar eclipse . According to a Bankrate survey, 30% of Americans are willing to take on debt for discretionary purchases such as travel, live entertainment, or dining out.
