Paddy Power has estimated this industry-wide figure for one of the most-watched horse races in the world

It’s predicted that just shy of €100m will be gambled by Irish and UK punters on The Grand National this year.

According to Bet Victor, €175m was wagered on 2023’s Grand National race across all bookmakers. This year, Britain's biggest horse race will see 34 horses take part, instead of its usual 40, in the hope of reducing collisions. The 2023 event was delayed after 118 activists were arrested for scaling fences, with some managing to get on the track just minutes before the race was scheduled to start.
