Port Adelaide star Zak Butters faces a nervous wait from the match review officer after a head high bump on Bailey Banfield during the Power’s thrilling win over Fremantle. With just over two minutes remaining, Banfield was hunting a loose ball when Butters came flying in. Banfield got there first and as Butters reached for the ball, his hip made contact with Banfield’s face. The umpire surprisingly didn’t award Banfield a free kick, but replays clearly showed their was high contact.
The Fremantle swingman briefly went down, but quickly regained his feet and continued playing with no apparent injury. If Butters is cited and suspended then he will be ruled out of Brownlow contention. The incident came at the end of a thrilling game with Port Adelaide holding on for a three-point victory. Jason Horne-Francis kicked the winning goal with less than three minutes remaining after Fremantle had lead for most of the final term.
