Shell to leave leading U.S. refining lobby over climate disagreement GlobeBusiness

Toru Hanai/Reuters

The review is part of Shell’s drive to increase transparency and show investors it is in line with the 2015 Paris climate agreement’s goals to limit global warming by reducing carbon emissions to a net zero by the end of the century. It is also the latest sign of how investor pressure on oil companies is leading to changes in their behaviour around climate.

Shell also found “some” misalignment with nine other trade associations, including the American Petroleum Institute. It will continue to engage with those groups over climate policies and monitor their alignment, Shell said.

Saudi Arabia oil giant’s $111.1 billion profit beats Apple, Shell and Exxon Mobil combined, first glimpse of finances revealsState-run company can generate profit like no other company on Earth. Why then did it only get a A+ rating? Title say 111.1 profit, the text says “net income last year was US$111.1 billion, easily outstripping U.S. behemoths including Apple Inc. and Exxon Mobil Corp.” Sloppy work. Kills the point of the whole article. Try harder or fire the editor.
