Business groups line up to plead for progress as Theresa May seeks a further 'Brextension' to agree a Brexit deal.

Welcome steps must be breakthrough not false dawn. Business confidence slumping, growth stalled & UK reputation in tatters. Tories must compromise on red lines & Labour come to table in good faith. No excuses, no time wasting, no party politics. Enough is enough."Tories must compromise on red lines and Labour come to table in good faith. No excuses, no time wasting, no party politics. Enough is enough.

That sentiment was mirrored in statements released by other business organisations as the PM's plans offered no clarity on what was to be discussed - except that the future relationship with the EU must be the focus as the withdrawal agreement with the EU could not be changed.Major business groups had said they could live with the terms of agreement with Brussels as it was not a no-deal Brexit.

"Ongoing uncertainty is having a real and negative impact on business confidence and investment all across the UK. "The Prime Minister may have issued a revised road map, but business communities still have little sense of the destination. It's like being asked to follow a sat-nav to an unknown location - with the nagging worry that the directions may yet lead to a cliff."

Chief executive of the Food and Drink Federation, Ian Wright, said:"Livelihoods are at stake, jobs are on the line. Food and drink manufacturers are spending money, time and effort trying to plan under a cloud of perpetual uncertainty."Unless the Prime Minister can secure the speedy support of the leader of the opposition, another short extension would only prolong the misery for businesses and the country.

There isn’t a stalemate the people voted leave, not that soubry and her chums will acknowledge this fact.

theresa_may is doing more damage to business than WTO leave could ever do! 🤷‍♂️

This is the lady who threw the CBItweets behind the Gov and it’s ‘deal’.

CHI chief is a disgrace as well, her job is to promote UK business. But instead you have consistently expounded rubbish project fear tactics. This impasse will damage UK & CBI has to take responsibility for their part in brexit demise.

Wow! Has susannareid100 fallen off the wagon piersmorgan

Is this susannareid100’s mum?

The lady is correct. Enough is enough. Everyone needs to realise that there are so many people, countries, political parties etc involved in this that not everyone is going to get everything that they want out of this. Let’s get it together and move on

Did the same after the referendum......enough said.

I wish CBItweets would butt out if they can't provide any concrete evidence for their doom and gloom, Some would say they are irrelevant.........

Same CBI who were key players in project fear'and the 17.4m Leave voters totally ignored.

Looking rough susannareid100

NO DEAL 🥳🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

While burdening us with the heaviest personal tax burden on record. But sure, you attack the only party who can make a difference its a valid point, the cost will be huge and people may be concerned where the money is going to come from. Of course the Tory's will say higher tax's will pay for it, thus election time could be difficult.
