PETALING JAYA: Some consumers, such as freight companies, will continue to enjoy diesel at the subsidised price via fleet cards despite the ongoing rationalisation of subsidies, says the finance ministry.

In a statement on Facebook, the ministry said that it will handle the diesel subsidy rationalisation mechanism together with the domestic trade and cost of living ministry , through the subsidised diesel control system 2.0.“Once they obtain approval under KPDN’s MySubsidi Diesel system, companies in the land transport sector can get fleet cards from select petrol companies to purchase diesel at the subsidised price,” its statement read.

The finance ministry said that Treasury secretary-general Johan Mahmood Merican had held a discussion yesterday with logistics industry players on the implementation of the targeted subsidy programme for diesel. In January, domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali said that the pilot project to test the MySubsidi Diesel and fleet card systems through six transport companies would commence on Feb 1.The six companies that reportedly took part were Perceptive Logistic Sdn Bhd, Multimodal Freight Sdn Bhd, Mun Chuen Transport Sdn Bhd, Tan Swee Hee Sdn Bhd, Sim Yew Enterprise Sdn Bhd and Rantau Panjang Haulage Sdn Bhd.
