Qantas said it had sacked Mrs Warr for drinking its alcohol while “employed in a safety critical role”, but also for lying about it. 9News

A Qantas flight attendant sacked for downing a quarter of a bottle of vodka during an international flight has lost her appeal.that she was unfairly fired after admitting to drinking company booze during an 11-hour flight from Sydney to Johannesburg in July.

Qantas said it had sacked Mrs Warr for drinking its alcohol while “employed in a safety critical role”, but also for lying about it. Mrs Warr repeatedly denied she did, insisting she purchased the vodka at a duty free store at Sydney International Airport before the July 25 flight. But on October 16, she finally admitted that “she had been dishonest during the investigation” and had “taken and consumed company alcohol on board flight QF63”.She filed a complaint with the Fair Work Commission, claiming her dismissal was unfair because it didn’t account for her 31 years of good service, she wasn’t given a warning and it was disproportionate to her misconduct.“Mrs Warr had a long and exemplary record of service with Qantas.
