We've been hearing from our US correspondent Mark Stone outside the courthouse in Manhattan, who says Donald Trump's time in court is taking him away from the campaign trail. Stone says the former US president has 'very effectively' used his criminal trials to 'cast himself as the victim' in the run-up - but the issue he's facing now is that he's expected to be in court every day that it sits.
'Even then, he is limited in what he can say because of gag orders that the judge has imposed on him,' Stone says. 'This is restrictive for a man who is very capable of controlling his own narrative, and who likes to shape what people are able to see and not see. He is unable to do that.' Last week, observers in the courtroom said he looked forlorn at the end of each day. Stone says Trump will likely 'struggle with the inability to control the moments' during his trial.
