GWS Giants star Sam Taylor has lit the fuse for an explosive derby with crosstown rivals Sydney by labelling the Swans “smug”. Saturday’s clash at the SCG shapes as a genuine heavyweight tussle with both clubs sitting second and third on the ladder with 6-1 records. Taylor will make his return for the massive match after missing the past two with concussion. And he might get some extra attention from the Swans forwards after detailing his dislike of the club.

Taylor has spent the past fortnight recovering from the sickening concussion against St Kilda. He said all he needs to do is get through training this week to be given the all clear. “I need to get through training Tuesday and Thursday and do some tackling and contest stuff, but I’m feeling great and ready to go,” he said. “I’m symptom free, everything’s gone. I didn’t have any headaches, that was good. It was just a bit of dizziness early on, but I’m back to normal which is great.
